Our Writer’s CommentÂ
This assignment evaluates your ability to conduct a rigorous strategic analysis through a responsibility and sustainability lens, rather than producing a traditional strategy report. High-scoring submissions demonstrate a strong command of strategic management frameworks, clear understanding of CSR and corporate social irresponsibility (CSIR), and the ability to integrate these perspectives into a coherent assessment of the organisation’s long-term direction.
A frequent weakness we observe is treating frameworks mechanically. Strong papers use tools such as the Three Horizons model, value chain analysis, RBV, stakeholder theory, and SAF criteria as analytical lenses—not as checklists. Markers also pay close attention to how convincingly students assess past CSIR incidents and stakeholder impacts, particularly the depth of evaluation around rectification efforts and relationship rebuilding.
General Tips to Improve Your Score
-
Choose your company strategically
Select an organisation with sufficient public data on sustainability, CSR reporting, and past controversies. -
Follow the required structure strictly
Each section is heavily weighted and assessed independently. -
Be critical, not descriptive
Evaluate strategic intent, trade-offs, and shortcomings rather than restating company claims. -
Use CSIR meaningfully
Discuss real misconduct cases, affected stakeholders, and adequacy of corrective actions. -
Integrate frameworks, don’t stack them
Show how theories complement each other within your analysis. -
Ensure recommendations pass SAF criteria
They must be realistic, acceptable to stakeholders, and feasible in practice.
