This End-of-Course Assessment (ECA) requires you to accomplish two parts within a 1400-wordcount limitation. First is an academic report of around 1100 words, and the second is a reflection of around 300 words. Both are based on a case scenario.
Part 1: Academic Report (1100 words)
Apply at least two organisational stress models to critically analyse the work stressors air traffic controllers face and demonstrate how these stressors, along with potential personal and organisational factors, contribute to the broader issues of work stress and burnout. What moderating factors might alleviate these stressors? Formulate THREE specific, evidence-based recommendations that management can implement to create a supportive environment aimed at reducing burnout professionally and personally.
Part 2: Reflections (300 words)
In this section, reflect on and apply what you have learned from your analysis of this case and its relevance to your challenges at managing work demands, your coping styles, and your wellbeing. Reflect on the case of air traffic controllers. Identify THREE significant stress points in your working or home environment. Using Schuler’s Process Model of Coping (1985), propose a clear action plan for improving how you communicate and interact with management (or key family members) regarding your work or personal schedule.
