Step 4: Describe the Methodology in 2-3 Sentences

Keep this section short and focused, but make sure it gives a clear picture of how you’ll conduct the experiment.

For example: “Participants will complete the Big Five Personality Test to assess their levels of extraversion and neuroticism. They will then fill out the Coping Strategies Inventory to measure their preferred stress management strategies. Data will be analyzed to examine the correlation between personality traits and stress management approaches.”

The methodology should be simple but clear, and it should reflect how you will measure the variables and test the hypotheses.

Step 5: Justify the Choice of Variables

This section is where you briefly explain why you chose these variables and how they are relevant to personality research. You need to back this up with at least one empirical reference.

For example, you might write: “Extraversion and neuroticism are key dimensions of the Big Five Personality Model, which has been empirically linked to stress management behaviors (Smith et al., 2020). Research suggests that individuals high in extraversion are more likely to engage in problem-solving strategies, while those high in neuroticism tend to avoid stressors (Jones & Lee, 2018).”
