Requirements:Â
This Group-Based Assignment (GBA) requires you to write a 1800-word report for two (2) questions. Question 1 is a written report which requires you to answer two (2) items. Question 2 is divided into two (2) parts: Part 1 a group presentation, and Part 2 involves designing a flyer.
Question 1 – Written Report
- Briefly illustrate the nature of global human trafficking and differentiate between human trafficking and human smuggling.
- Analyse and assess the effectiveness of strategies implemented by the Thai government to prevent human trafficking, with a particular focus on international cooperation, law enforcement, and victim support services.
Question 2Â
Part 1: Group Presentation
The group presentation aims to assess your ability to synthesise information from your earlier written report submission and communicate it effectively through a PowerPoint presentation.
Conduct a presentation that consolidates the group’s findings for questions 1a and 1b.
Part 2: Design a Flyer
As student ambassadors, your group is tasked with designing a one-slide PowerPoint flyer to raise awareness about human trafficking. The flyer should clearly communicate three key red flags that are commonly associated with victims of human trafficking, based on the research and information you have gathered from academic sources.Â
Our Writer’s CommentÂ
This group-based assignment is demanding because it combines academic research, policy analysis, and public communication within a single submission. Students are assessed not only on their understanding of transnational crime, but also on how well they can synthesise research into clear arguments and visuals for different audiences.
A common weakness appears in Question 1(a), where students describe human trafficking broadly without clearly differentiating human trafficking and human smuggling, or without integrating academic literature meaningfully. High-scoring submissions use the literature review to show how sex trafficking and forced labour overlap within global trafficking networks, rather than treating them as isolated phenomena.
For Question 1(b), weaker answers list Thai anti-trafficking measures descriptively. Stronger responses critically evaluate effectiveness, identify gaps, and propose one realistic, innovative strategy that fits Thailand’s institutional and regional context. Cohesion between the written report, presentation, and flyer is key.
General Tips to Improve Your Score
Be precise with definitions early on
Clearly distinguish trafficking from smuggling before moving into deeper analysis.
Use literature thematically, not descriptively
Group academic sources around common themes such as vulnerability, demand, or trafficking methods.
Evaluate government strategies critically
Discuss strengths, limitations, and implementation challenges, not just policy intent.
Keep the presentation analytical
Slides should synthesise findings, not repeat large sections of the written report.
Design the flyer with purpose
Visual clarity, accurate red flags, and persuasive messaging matter more than decoration.
