You are working on a Surgical ward at Curtin Singapore Hospital as a graduate RN. Your ward Manager has received a quarterly audit report indicating 12 incidents of extravasation of patient’s peripheral IV cannula site.

The ward manager has asked you to assemble a team of Clinical Nurses’ and Registered Nurses to critically review the literature on this subject.

You are working on an Oncology ward at Curtin Singapore Hospital as a graduate RN. Your Ward Manager has received a quarterly audit report indicating 6 errors in the blood transfusion documentation. The errors are mainly related to recording observations per the hospital standard during transfusion. The ward manager has asked you to assemble a team of Clinical Nurses’ and Registered Nurses to critically review the literature on this subject.

The chosen topic (either topic 1 or 2 above) must be included in the title. Your paper should present high-quality,

credible evidence justifying and supporting your discussion (largely using peer-reviewed journal articles and research studies).

Succinct writing is an important aspect of your professional writing skills. Taking this into account this assessment has a maximum word limit of 900 words (+/- 10%) excluding your reference list, headings, in-text citations and title.

We will stop reading at 1000 words. Any content words you include after this point will not be read or included in marking, although your reference list will still be read and assessed.

The marks reflect how well you discuss and evaluate the subject. Your paper must have a clear discussion, not just a description or summary of relevant literature.

How do I submit the assessment?

At this level in your degree, you need to exercise your own judgement regarding whether a source is an appropriate evidence for your claims. There is no publication date limit for references; however, if you choose to use an older source, you will need to tell your reader why its findings are still valid and reliable in 2023.

The minimum number of sources you must use for this assessment is 10 relevant peer-reviewed journal articles (preferably research studies) independently sourced by you. Using only the minimum number of sources for this assessment would earn you in the “Needs Improvement” category of the rubric.

You will need to find more peer-reviewed relevant journal article sources to earn a higher mark in this rubric criterion. As a guide for scoring well in this criterion, it is expected to include 12 high-quality, relevant peer-reviewed journal research references. It is strongly advised against using internet sources as evidence for your claims in this assessment unless you explicitly provide a credibility evaluation of the source as part of your claim.
