Requirements:
This Group-Based Assignment (GBA) requires you to create a 10-minute maximum PowerPoint Presentation.
Question 1:
Atlantis is a fictitious country, located in the Indian Ocean. They are a small island with a multi-racial and multi-cultural population. Two much larger neighbours, Balena and Corona, are sandwiched on its west and east. Due to the absence of natural disasters and its being situated on a busy shipping route, Atlantis has been steadily prospering over the years
through foreign investments and prudent national spending. They have a reliable digital infrastructure, and a high internet access amongst their population.
They have requested PSS219 students to share Singapore’s experience in upholding the three domains of public safety and security. They would like the students to advise the Atlantean agency representatives on how they can continue to keep their country safe, secure, and prosperous.
Develop a professional in-class presentation to present, explain and illustrate one of the three domains of public safety and security in Singapore. Your presentation should be summarised in PowerPoint Presentation, and should include time for questions and clarifications. The target audience of your presentation is the Atlantean authorities. In total, the presentation must be kept within 10 minutes.

Our Writer’s Comment
This GBA tests students on a different skill set from the TMA. Rather than extended written analysis, the focus here is on strategic synthesis, clarity, and audience-appropriate communication. Students are effectively role-playing as public safety advisers briefing a foreign government.
A common weakness is attempting to cover too much content within the limited slide deck. High-scoring presentations are selective: they focus on one domain, explain it clearly, and show how Singapore’s experience can be translated meaningfully to the Atlantean context. Another frequent issue is the weak linkage between historical development, current agency capabilities, and future-oriented recommendations.
Stronger groups present a coherent narrative, rather than treating each sub-question as a standalone section.
General Tips to Improve Your Score
Choose the domain strategically
Select the domain that allows your group to demonstrate the clearest link between risks, agencies, and outcomes.
Design slides for explanation, not text density
The bulk of marks is awarded for slide quality. Slides should support spoken explanation, not duplicate it.
Contextualise Singapore’s experience
Show why Singapore’s approaches work and how they can be adapted—rather than copied—for Atlantis.
Use the PSS cycle deliberately
Apply the framework clearly as a planning tool, not just a conceptual diagram.
Be realistic in recommendations
Each recommendation should include limitations or weaknesses, showing mature policy thinking.
