For this group project, students will work in a group of 4-5 members
on a usability project, where they will get to do a small-scale iterative usability testing that will involve some simple prototyping as well. The purpose of this project is to allow students to have the chance to engage in some of the basic steps involved in conducting an iterative usability test and to apply skills and knowledge learnt in this subject.

This group project assesses how well students can apply usability principles in a structured, iterative manner, rather than produce a polished design from the outset. The emphasis is on process: understanding users, identifying friction points, testing ideas, and refining solutions based on evidence.

A common weakness is rushing into ideation without grounding decisions in the initial usability test findings. High-scoring submissions show a clear line of reasoning—from user personas and observed pain points, through CREATE-based ideation, to measurable improvements in the second round of testing. Another frequent issue is weak alignment between the prototype and the stated behavioural goal of the app.

This makes it easier to evaluate success across both rounds of testing.

Clearly define objectives, tasks, data collected, and evaluation measures for each round.

Show how the proposed improvements map clearly to specific CREATE steps.

Avoid redesigning based on assumptions; every change should link back to observed issues.

The presentation, report, and prototype should tell the same story, not three separate ones.
