Requirements:
The module is delivered through distance learning and online support. It can be studied from any location in the UK or worldwide. Assessment is project-based with students undertaking dissertation under the supervision of an academic with expertise in the chosen subject area. Support is provided through specially developed online resources, methodology webinars and regular online supervisory meetings. The students have full access to Plymouth University’s e-library.
They can commence their study on any of two start times in a year: September and April and are required to submit around a year later but due to the flexibility it is possible to submit within six months.Students are expected to choose their own dissertation topics.
The programme gives an opportunity to demonstrate one’s ability to diagnose and investigate a live, complex business issue or conduct a critical theoretical argument on a current business problem from any of the management perspectives, such as Human Resources, Operations, Finance or Economy. Students are required to locate their work within the body of contemporary knowledge, to collect and analyse data, to derive supportable conclusions and, if possible, to make practical and actionable recommendations for change, improvement or enhancement of current practice. Sometimes students conduct research in their own places of work and thus at the end of their study are able to provide an academic explanation to a real-life business concern/ issue.
