Our Writer’s Comment
This assignment is designed to assess students’ understanding of business practices.
To secure an A+ grade, adhere to these guidelines and make sure your work aligns with the grading criteria:
1. Understand the Case Scenario Thoroughly
Before you start writing, make sure you have a deep understanding of the case scenario you’ve chosen. This is the foundation of your entire assignment, so take the time to analyze all aspects of the case. Consider the patient’s condition, the psychosocial factors, the family dynamics, and any other relevant details.
- Tip: Annotate the case scenario as you read it. Highlight key points, note down initial thoughts, and consider how different palliative care concepts apply to the situation.
2. Link Theory to Practice
The assignment is all about linking theory to clinical practice, so make sure you’re integrating palliative care theories and concepts into your analysis. Discuss how these theories inform your understanding of the case and the decisions you would make in practice.
- Tip: Reference key palliative care frameworks, such as the WHO’s definition of palliative care, or models like the Gold Standards Framework. Use these to justify your clinical decisions and management strategies.
3. Critical Analysis is Key
To score higher, focus on critically analyzing the case rather than just describing it. This means questioning and evaluating the effectiveness of different management options, considering alternative approaches, and discussing potential outcomes.
- Tip: Don’t shy away from discussing the complexities or uncertainties involved in palliative care. Addressing these head-on shows depth of understanding and critical thinking.
4. Apply Concepts of Palliative and End-of-Life Care
Make sure you’re applying key concepts of palliative and end-of-life care, such as symptom management, communication, ethical decision-making, and family involvement. Show how these concepts are relevant to the case and how they guide your approach.
- Tip: For each concept you discuss, link it directly back to the case scenario. For example, if you’re discussing pain management, explain how you would assess and manage the patient’s pain in the context of their specific condition and preferences.
5. Structure Your Assignment Clearly
A well-structured assignment is easier to read and follow, which can positively impact your grade. Make sure your assignment has a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Each section should flow logically from one to the next.
- Tip: Use headings and subheadings to organize your content. This not only makes your assignment more reader-friendly but also helps ensure you cover all required aspects of the task.
6. Be Mindful of the Word Count
The word count is 1800 words (+/- 10%), so aim to use your words wisely. Make sure each section is appropriately balanced in length and that you’re not spending too much time on one part of the assignment at the expense of others.
- Tip: If you find yourself going over the word limit, prioritize quality over quantity. It’s better to have a concise, well-argued point than a longer, less focused discussion.
7. Reflect on Feedback
Consider any feedback you received on your 78% score. Were there areas where your analysis could have been deeper, or where your application of theory needed more support? Address these areas directly in your next submission.
8. Proofread and Polish
Before submitting, take the time to proofread your work. Look for any grammatical errors, awkward phrasing, or unclear points. A polished, well-written assignment can make a strong impression and help you score higher.
- Tip: Reading your assignment out loud can help you catch errors or identify areas where the flow of your writing could be improved.
9. Cite Your Sources
Make sure you’re using appropriate references to support your analysis. Citing credible sources, such as peer-reviewed journal articles and authoritative texts, strengthens your arguments and shows that your work is well-researched.
- Tip: Keep your referencing consistent and accurate. This includes in-text citations as well as your reference list at the end.
By focusing on these areas, you’ll be well on your way to creating a stronger, more comprehensive assignment that demonstrates your understanding of palliative and end-of-life care.
Good luck—you’ve got this!
