MSP100: Assessment 1

MSP100: Assessment 1

Module / Subject / School:

MSP100: Career Learning: Managing Your Career

Murdoch University

Requirements:

In considering your career aspirations throughout mini modules 1 and 2, you have been thinking about your own wellbeing; the personal and professional benefits of building resilience; and considering the kinds of skills employers want, with the underlying idea of exploring how you might actively begin to position yourself for your future career. For this assessment you are going to appraise your current skills, critically reflect on your career aspirations, and form a statement of this as a base line against which you can gauge your development over time.

To complete this assessment:

  1. Evidence capability for your best/strongest skill using the STAR method
  2. Compose a coherent written critical reflection in which you consider your career aspirations, current skills, and how your chosen course of study at Murdoch is part of your personal, professional and career development.

Important: You should write this as a coherent piece of text with properly constructed sentences and paragraphing, and it should have a logical flow through the different points of discussion

Remember, this is an academic piece of writing, so your work requires the proper use of grammar, spelling and a logical flow of ideas.

Our Writer’s Comment

In this assignment, you are going to have to assess the value or quality of the skills that you currently have. When writing your critical reflection, you must not forget to add the reasons why you have developed such a skill or why you wanted to learn the skill in the first place. You will also have to reflect on your career ambitions, and you must do this in a critical manner. These will then be used in order for you to be able to gauge your development after some time. It is pretty common for students to be unclear about these self-assessments and reflections, so you must be careful and make your written critical reflection as clear and comprehensible as possible.

Apart from the things mentioned already, you must also highlight your reasons and explanations as to why you have decided to study a certain course at Murdoch and that is part of your plans for your personal, professional and career development. If this is not given much attention, your written critical reflection may appear weak and look like it does not meet the standards for a high mark.

Sometimes, students get ahead of themselves, which resulted in creating an incoherently written output, one without a smooth flow of the different points of discussion. To avoid this, you should first prepare the points that you will be making. Further, spend some time assessing yourself and the motives of your decisions from the past in relation to your development.
