The aim is to be “secure, alert and responsible online”. For this ECA, assume that you are part of your company’s task force to look into digital defence at the workplace.
Briefly describe the company you are representing for this ECA to give context and background. Evaluate the different technologies that the company is utilising in its business operations. (15 marks)
Question 2
In 2017, computer hardware company, Hewlett-Packard introduced the first of a series of global initiatives[1] to elevate awareness of the security risks facing businesses and consumers. It kicked off with award-winning Hollywood actor Christian Slater starring in HP Studios’ web series, “The Wolf” on YouTube (https://youtu.be/6UBR_XE5IN0), which highlighted how corporate networks can be hacked and what companies must do to protect themselves.
Fast forward to present day, PwC’s Digital Trust Insights Survey 2021[2] revealed that more than 50% of Singapore companies surveyed are prioritising accelerated digitalisation (eg e[1]commerce models, direct to consumer, new business models, virtual workforce) in the immediate future.
One of the biggest impacts of such accelerated digitalisation is the potential surge in digital attacks and cyber threats. Remote work set-ups, accomplished hastily to enable business continuity, have brought increased exposure and threats.
The threats with the most potential impact in areas where cyber incidents occurred were through mobile device exploitation, followed by phishing, further highlighting the vulnerability to threats resulting from human error or negligence (employee exploitation). This is no surprise given our accelerated digitalisation and rapid adoption of cloud and IoT in Singapore.
Propose a plan recommending ideas for how your company could adopt artificial intelligence and/or other relevant digital technologies to enhance cybersecurity at the workplace.

Question 3
The “new normal” in a post-pandemic corporate world is a literal 24/7 work culture. Company leaders and Human Resource departments have recognised that, regardless of whether their staff are working physically at the office or remotely from home, many are working overtime more than ever.
With increased digitalisation, cyber bullying is also steadily increasing – not just amongst children and teens, but amongst adults too, both in our professional and personal lives.
Cyber bullying is any form of harassment or bullying that takes place online or through the use of electronic devices.
In a 2019 study conducted by Kantar, the study showed that Singapore was identified as one of the countries with the highest level of workplace bullying, with almost a quarter of Singaporeans claiming to have been bullied in the workplace.
Part of digital defence is to ensure that the office is a safe environment to work in. This means advocating for all employees to enjoy good mental health, work-life balance, and a sense of job fulfilment.
- Examine three (3) possible ways in which cyberbullying might take place at the workplace. (15 marks)
- Recommend three (3) ideas for how you would address cyberbullying at the workplace. (15 marks)
