BACKGROUND |
In this assignment you build on the analysis of the literature on psychosocial hazards in the workplace that you undertook for Assignment 1. In Assignment 3 you now focus on applying your key insights from Assignment 1 on a digitised company ‘ServiceNow’ whose growth in 2021 in Asia was faster than on a global basis. An ISG research report found that “Many enterprises in Singapore and Malaysia are aggressively investing in ServiceNow solutions to navigate changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the trend toward digital transformation”.

You are a workplace psychosocial risk assessment consultant hired by the WHWS manager of the regional branch of ServiceNow. The WHWS manager is concerned about that the allegations of poor WHWS practices and the impact on their wellbeing by employees working at Head office. The WHWS wants to ensure that the head office culture does not filter through to the regional office. You are to prepare a psychosocial risk assessment report on ServiceNow, based on the list of complaints. A summary of complaints can be downloaded here.
Your report must address key hazards, controls and risks and appropriate measure to mitigate and reduce the psychosocial risks in compliance with regulations from Singapore-based WHWS safety authorities.

2.2. Risk Assessment | Assess the risks for ServiceNow in relation to each psychosocial hazard. Justify your answer for digitalised contexts.
2.3. Control Measures | Decide on appropriate control measures to reduce the risk of each of the hazards
- Use the hierarchy of controls when selecting your controls.
- After selecting the controls, reassess the risk and decide whether the new risk rating is acceptable.
- Check whether the risk ratings conform to the ALARP principle.
- Is it cost-effective for ServiceNow to introduce these controls?
- Is the risk too great for the company and employees not to implement them?
- You need to determine the likelihood, consequences and total risk rating for each hazard when no controls are used, and then reassess when the controls are implemented to see if the risk would be reduced.

Develop a summary table of the key elements of a ‘psychosocial safety culture’ that managers and employees in the ServiceNow regional office could use as a guideline to support a psychosocially healthy workplace.
