Flying is one of the safest forms of transport. But what happens when tragedy strikes? This module allows students to explore the chain of events that can lead to disaster in the air and on the ground.

In Course Assessment

A group presentation is worth 30% of the overall module grade.

Working in small teams, you are required to create and then deliver a presentation through which you will:

1. Discuss a range of factors that can cause an air disaster pre, during and post-flight.
2. Use relevant examples that support the range of factors you have discussed.
3. Work collaboratively as a team to deliver a professional presentation.

You will be expected to present your findings on 29 July 2021. An electronic version must be submitted prior to the presentation taking place.

End Course Assessment

An individual report is worth 70% of the overall module grade.

You are to write a report based on one specific air disaster through which you will:

1. Examine how the disaster occurred.
2. Analyse the impact of the disaster on the brand.
3. Analyse the impact the disaster had on the aviation sector as a whole.
4. Discuss the subsequent changes that have evolved post-disaster.

The instructors of this module check how students deeply understand the complexity of the nature of air disaster management. Therefore, you must be able to show in your work that you have appreciated this particular topic as well as how airlines try to prevent disasters from occurring in the course of time. You must also display that you have explored historical and recent events that have initiated global change so that you could score well in the assessment.

For the group presentation, be sure to coordinate with your groupmates to be able to deliver a professional presentation. In the final part of your report, there must be a discussion of the following changes that have evolved or developed in relation to the disaster.
